Our Worship Service is at 10:30 am, every Sunday.
We like to meet at 10:00 am, to hang out, drink coffee, eat a snack and prepare for worship.
- We are a family, not a church. Our atmosphere is casual, and our welcome is warm.
- Our worship is passionate. The Broken Praise Band, our worship leaders, is a contemporary worship band that believes strongly in pursuing God, and inspiring others to do the same.
- Children are a very important aspect of Genesis Ministries. We have a dynamic children's program that is focused on teaching children biblical principles and practical, developmental type lessons.
- Nursery - We have a place for even the smallest ones. Our nursery staff are all mothers, so you can be confident that your precious little bundles of joy will be well taken care of.
Philip and Dreama Rains had been married for 36 years and in full time ministry for 35 years when God gave them the passion to start a brand new church in the Cumming/Alpharetta area. The vision behind this new church was of a place where all people - real people, living real lives - could search together for a real God and find His amazing purpose in their lives.
Pastor Phil and Dreama have a true heart for people. You will find the message of Genesis Church to be one of love, hope, acceptance, and joy; this is Pastor Phil and Dreama's vision - a community of people loving God and loving each other.
Brent Rains studied music at Lee University, and after many years of seeking for God's plan for his life, began leading Worship. After doing so for a number of years, he found a perfect partner to join in the cause, his wife April. Together, with their daughter Lyric (how fitting), they now serve Genesis as Worship Arts directors and administrative team leads.
Brent and April have a vision for creating a whole worship environment; a place where people are both encouraged and inspired to find God ...face to face. In that place, worship will happen....that is the heart of Genesis Worship.
As a family, Belinda, Steve and Erin have been dedicated to the youth in the Forsyth County Community for the past 15 years. They have served in a variety of youth leadership roles, from youth counselors within their church, in leadership positions in scouting, 4-H, and equestrian sports, to serving children and youth with special needs.
Their commitment to Youth has been unwavering and faithfully committed to the message given to us in 1 Timothy 4:12, "Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, Love, faith and purity show yourself an example of those who believe ."
As the Youth Leadership Team at Genesis Club 4:12, Belinda, Steve and Erin will seek to help youth share their gifts, grow in life skills, develop a positive self image, develop a personal spirituality and prayer life, apply Christian faith to their daily life, integrate Christian values, participate in the church, and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Aaron and Lori Rafus have been married for 17 years and have lived in Georgia for the greater part of their lives. As Childrens Church leaders they have a passion and calling for the children in the North Georgia community. From serving in youth ministry in many different roles to raising three children of their own, Aaron and Lori have a well grounded and deep foundation for leading and guiding young children. Outside of the four walls, they have also worked with foster children, sons and daughters of refugees and coached childrens sports at the YMCA.
The Childrens Church at Genesis is laser focused on one thing, helping our children form and enjoy a relationship with a very real God. John 15:13 says "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." When children realize that Jesus is real and a personal relationship is possible, they can then begin to build a foundation for a Christian lifestyle that will carry them into their adult years.
Paula Patton has been working with children for 25 years. She served as a Preschool Director for four years before coming to Genesis. Paula has a passion to teach young children the importance of Gods Word, through music and creative hands on activities. Working in local Preschools around Georgia has given her insight into our growing need to teach our children the fundamental basics of the Bible. It is a great honor to teach a child and see how Gods Love and Word can be nurtured. The preschool age is such an important time in our childrens lives. Each week will be an adventure into knowing about Jesus!
Paula has been happily married for 23 years and has three wonderful sons. She currently serves as a Childrens Preschool Sports Coach. Through this outreach, she is able to encourage and mentor children. In Psalms 78:5-7, it says: He made the law in Israel, which He told our fathers to teach their children. So the children-to-come might know, even the children yet to be born. So they may rise up and tell it to their children. Then they would put their trust in God and not forget the works of God. And they would keep His laws. Our children are the future of the Church, and by teaching them God lives and breathes through generations to come.
